چکیده

Background: Phacoemulsification surgery is the most frequent cataract performed in developed countries because of its effectiveness and safety. However, some degree endothelial loss inevitable any type surgery, including phacoemulsification. Anterior chamber depth (ACD) could be considered as one important anatomical parameters for preserving from mechanical thermal damage that can occur during procedure. Purpose: To evaluate effects ACD on cell density, hexagonality, coefficient variation (CV) central corneal thickness (CCT) at four weeks after phacoemulsification using transversal ultrasound. Method: This was a prospective study conducted Cicendo National Eye Hospital Indonesia April to August 2018, where we 148 patients with < 3 mm group, ≥ group. Specular microscopy examination prior repeated surgery. The changes percentage CV CCT between two groups were evaluated compared. Result: Mean (SD) density group 1-week evaluation 1761.9 (503.3) 1966.1 (530.6) cells/mm2 respectively, p value 0.030. At 4-week evaluation, 1537.8 (504.9) 1798.7 (554.0) 0.010. There no statistical difference regarding both evaluation. Endothelial also higher Conclusion: significantly lower compared

Risk Factors for Endothelial Cell Loss after Phacoemulsification: Comparison in Different Anterior Chamber Depth Groups

PURPOSE To assess the risk factors for endothelial cell loss after phacoemulsification with implantation of intraocular lens according to anterior chamber depth (ACD). METHODS This prospective study included 94 eyes of 94 patients undergoing phacoemulsification cataract surgery. To assess the risk factors for corneal endothelial cell loss, we examined seven variables at 1 day, 1 week, 6 weeks...

Effects of phacoemulsification on intraocular pressure and anterior chamber depth

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation on intraocular pressure (IOP) and anterior chamber depth (ACD) in patients with cataract or cataract associated with primary angle closure (PAC). A total of 361 patients (481 affected eyes) with senile cataract (cataract group) and 44 patients (52 affected eyes) with cataract ass...

Endothelial Cell Loss after Phacoemulsification according to Different Anterior Chamber Depths

Purpose. To compare the loss of corneal endothelial cells after phacoemulsification according to different anterior chamber depths (ACDs). Methods. We conducted a prospective study on 135 eyes with senile cataracts. Eyes with nuclear density grades of 2 to 4 were divided into three groups according to ACD: ACD I, 1.5 < ACD ≤ 2.5 mm; ACD II, 2.5 < ACD ≤ 3.5 mm; or ACD III, 3.5 < ACD ≤ 4.5 mm. In...
